About the event
8 Week session runs July 13-August 31.
Youth Shakespeare Society introduces actors ages 10 and up to the world of William Shakespeare through performance, exploration, and hands-on scene work. Students will begin by learning the historical context behind Shakespeare’s writing, gaining insight into the language, culture, and theatrical world of the time.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to three of Shakespeare’s plays, offering a variety of characters, themes, and scenes to explore. Each student will then select a scene they would like to perform, guided by the instructor in choosing material that best supports their growth and interests.
Using that selected scene, students will engage in focused language analysis and in-depth character work, learning how to break down Shakespearean text, uncover meaning, and make strong, playable acting choices. With instructor guidance, they will develop clarity, confidence, and connection to the language and characters.
